Group Travel September 2019 

“Visit Armenia, the hidden pearl in the Caucasus”

18 September 2019 – 25 September 2019 (full travel schedule see below)

Travel like a local with a small group and discover the mainly unexplored beauty of Armenia

You will be personally picked up and brought back to the airport according to your flight schedule (accommodation is included starting from the dates night from 17/18 September until night of 24/25 September according to your flight schedule and your personal arrival dates)

During this group travel you will stay all nights in a high comfort 3*** plus accommodation in the center of Yerevan (you can choose between staying in a shared 2 persons room with 2 single beds or private single room (prices see further)). (if chosen for shared 2-persons room dividing of the rooms will be based on gender first so women share rooms with women and men with men)

Every day trip during this group travel will be assisted by an English speaking guide who will guide the group and tell more about history of the places to visit. Every day you will be personally picked up with the group and brought back to your accommodation (all trips will be done with top comfort transportation)

The main spoken language during the travel will be English. A basic knowledge from English for during this trip is enough. Kristine and myself from Golden Apricot Travel speak 7 languages (Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Armenian, English and Russian). So we can assist you in all this languages concerning your questions and needs.

Schedule Group Travel

Day 1 – exploring Yerevan – (breakfast and lunch included) – September 18 

Arrival in Yerevan, installing in accommodation and exploring Yerevan

The group travel will start with lunch together with the group in a nice restaurant in Yerevan where you will be welcomed by a local English speaking guide

After lunch walking and exploring Yerevan with local English speaking guide, visit Historical Museum Yerevan and other places in Yerevan and getting to know the history of Armenia

Day 2 – Khor Virap and Noravank – (breakfast, wine tasting and lunch included) 

Today you will visit and explore the old monasteries of Khor Virap and Noravank. A local English speaking guide will accompany the group and tell you all about the history of this magical places. In the morning you will be personally picked up at the accommodation like it will be all days (all info and hours and other practical info you will receive after)


During this day we will visit Khor Virap and Noravank. Khor Virap is an Armenian monastery located in the Ararat plain in Armenia. The view on Ararat her is amazing. You will be able to visit the place and enjoy the amazing view on Ararat.


after Khor Virap we will drive further to Noravank. Noravank is a 13th century Monastery located 122 km from Yerevan in a beautiful gorge. Both places are a must see while visiting Armenia

After the visit of Khor Virap on the way to the Noravank temple we will have lunch and wine tasting before visiting the Noravank complex in a nice and cosy place away from the paved touristic paths

Day 3 – Geghard and Garni – (breakfast and lunch included)

Today you will visit some other magical places you must see when visiting Armenia

Like every day you will be personally picked up at your accommodation together with the group and a local English speaking guide will tell all about the places we will visit today


During this day we will visit of one the oldest remaining Pagan Temples in Armenia. Located in a beautiful gorge in the Armenian mountains. This beautiful temple is gracefully standing on a high plateau overlooking the Azat river Gorge. This complex is UNESCO world heritage and for sure this mystical place with its interesting history will speak to your heart.

after our visit of the Garni temple we will have lunch together in in a local restaurant and after drive further to the Geghard Monastery


Another must see while visiting Armenia is the complex of the Geghard Monastery. This complex is a true masterpiece of architecture. Located in a beautiful spot in the mountains this complex is totally excavated out of the mountains. For sure this mystical place will make a deep impression on you. Inside the complex there is also a sacred source. According to the legends in this place the lance of Longinus was kept for 5 centuries after being brought there from the holy land. That is also the reason this complex is called “the monastery of the holy lance”.

Day 4 – Sevan and Idjevan – (breakfast and lunch included)

Today you will visit the places Tsaghkadzor, Lake Sevan (Sevanavank), Dilijan (Haghartsin, Goshavank)

As during all days you will be picked up with the group at your accommodation and a local English speaking guide will assist you the whole day

In the morning we will visit the beautiful lake of Sevan. About one hour’s drive from the capital city of Yerevan you will be able to see the beautiful lake of Sevan. Sevan is situated at the height of 1900m above sea level and surrounded by a vast chain of mountains. During this trip you will visit the Sevan peninsula and the Sevananvank monastery and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the lake from the top.

After our visit of Lake Sevan we will have lunch in a restaurant near lake Sevan – we will taste the amazing fish from Lake Sevan overthere

Places you will visit in the afternoon after lunch

  • City of Tsaghkadzor – city of flowers – a small Olympic town not far from Yerevan, approximately an hour’s drive away. It is also called the Armenian Switzerland, as it is surrounded by dense mountain forests
  • The city of Dilijan and the monastery of Gosh-Goshavank.
  • The monastery of Haghartsin, dating back to the 10th-14th centuries. The name is translated as “the play of the eagle”


Day 5 – Echmiadzin and Zvartnots  – (Breakfast and dinner included)

today we will visit the places of Echmiadzin and Zvartnots


Today we will visit Echmiadzin. Echmiadzin is considered to be the spiritual center of Armenia. In Echmiadzin we will will visit the St. Hripsime church, 618 A.D, one of the oldest standing churches in the world. We will also visit the Holy Echmiadzin – the world’s first Christian Cathedral built in 301-304. After we will take a 5 minutes drive and visit St Gayane Church. A guide will tell you about the history of this place.

(All the mentioned churches are  included in the UNESCO heritage list)

after our visit of Echmiadzin we will have lunch in a local restaurant and after drive further to the magical Zvartnots Cathedral who is standing in front of the magical mountain of Ararat.


Zvartnots Cathedral meaning ‘celestial angels cathedral’is a 7th-century Armenian cathedral/temple complex built by the order of Catholicos Nerses the Builder from 643-652. Now in ruins, it is located at the edge of the city of Vagharshapat (Etchmiadzin) in Armavir Province of Armenia looking out on the holy mountain of Ararat

Day 6 – Zorats Karer – (Breakfast and lunch included)

Zorats Karer

also called the Armenian Stonehenge

Zorats Karer also called Karahunj is a prehistorical archaeological site near the town of Sisian in the Syunik Province of Armenia. It is also know as the Armenian Stonehenge. But the interesting thing is that this region is predating the British Stonehenge with thousands of years.

Today we are going to explore this magical place. You will be able to explore the ancient stones of this mystical place and the guide will tell you all about the history and secrets of the location. We will spend a lot of time in this mystical region and we will also visit the Shaki Waterfalls which are close to Zorats Karer

Lunch in a local restaurant is included during the daytrip

Day 7 – free day to relax  – breakfast and dinner included

free day according to own desires with possibility to buy souvenirs

in the evening we will have our last dinner together in a Restaurant in Yerevan with local dance and music


Day 8
